N3m Cheque: Is Ubi Franklin Broke?




Those who really know Ubi Franklin well enough would attest to the fact that he is more than comfortable.

However, the responsibility of three children and four lovers are enough to make even the most comfortable man broke.

It is a known fact that the former label boss of Iyanya had a son with actress Lilian Esoro from their crashed marriage. Prior to the marriage, he also had a daughter out of wedlock. A South African said to have been his assistant also put to bed for him, with an Abuja-based woman named Sandra Iheuwa recently said to be expecting a child with him.

The responsibility of the man is what has given rise to  the question: “Is Music Executive Uni Franklin Broke”. This is the question which a lot of people in the music industry have been asking since MC Galaxy shared a post that he gave Ubi Franklin a N3m cheque as a mark of appreciation for once paying his rent.

Detailing why he gave him the money, MC Galaxy revealed he once needed 350,000,00 to pay his rent, but couldn’t raise the money. He however got it from Ubi Franklin.

Recall that weeks back and Abuja-based business woman named Sandra Iheuwa claimed Ubi Franklin was indebted to her to the tune of four million Naira. She also claimed that he was responsible for her pregnancy. However, she subsequently revealed on Instagram that her money had been paid and her case with her former lover closed.

Known to be from the same part of the country, naturally, there shouldn’t be a big deal about two brothers lending each other a hand. However, that the cheque was shared on social media has led to questions been asked about the liquidity of the Made Men Music Group (MMMG) boss.

Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has revealed that he almost gave up on Mavin Record in its early days.

In a Twitter post, he wrote: “Everyone has their goal. I almost gave up on mine in the early days of Mavin. As you can see in the throwback pic. I look fed up lol. But man had to keep pushing. May you reap the rewards of all your hard work last last o”

The beatmaker who also doubles as a singer has since gone on to set the pace in the music industry, leading one of the most consistent record labels in Nigeria.

Grammy Nomination: Reactions Continue To Pour In For Burna Boy

Music lovers in Nigeria have reacted with excitement to Burna Boy’s  Grammy Award nomination.

The singer whose real name is Damini Ogulu was nominated in the ‘Best World Music Album’ category for his album ‘African Giant’ .

Since the nomination, fans have been reacting positively to the development on social media with congratulatory messages following the Afro-fusion star.

The list of the nomination was on Wednesday, November 20.

Reacting to the nominations, Burna Boy via his twitter handle @Burnaboy, “African Giant is Grammy Nominated! Its been a crazy day, so Grateful.

“Special shout-out to everyone on the album from the producers to co-producers to featured Artists to Engineers.

Afropop Musician, Davido Drops Sophomore Album Today



A Good Time

Davido Music Worldwide boss, David Adeleke,  has released his sophomore album titled ‘A Good Time’ after much anticipation.

The album which comes six years after his massive debut titled ‘OBO’ dropped worldwide in the early hours of Friday, November 22.

A 17 track album, it comprises of collaborations with Popcaan, Peruzzi, Zlatan, Naira Marley, WurlD, Summer Walker, Chris Brown, Gunna, Dremo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Yonda.

Producers on the album include Shizzi, Kiddominant, Speroach Beatz, Tekno and a few others.

‘A Good Time’ drops on the imprints of Davido Music Worldwide/Sony Music U.K./RCA Records.

Analysing the album, the singer said: “It’s been a long 7 years. A lot has transpired in my life since my debut album ‘Genesis’, and I, David Adeleke (aka Davido) have gone through a process of immense changes and growth,” he said.

“In sad times I lost close family and friends (RIP) and in my happiest times I’ve created lives (Imade, Hailey & David Jr). I fell in love and got engaged to my PHENOMENAL fiancé, Chioma. I’ve fought battles of all kinds and on all fronts: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional even political.”

On the motive behind the title, Davido said, “A Good Time’ reflects on the ability to trust the timing of your life, enjoying the best moments and persevering through the worst ones.

“There’s no time like the present and it’s A Good Time to be alive, to be a PROUD AFRICAN and to fight for the freedom of one another – in unity. This is my album cover art and it reflects the culmination of my 7 year journey in audio/visual form.”
