Miss Earth Nigeria Holds Today

Today, Nigeria will see some of its most beautiful ladies strut the runway in the 2018 Miss Earth pageant.

A global brand, it is one of the three largest pageants in the world, with the Nigerian version not lacking behind.

A brainchild of former Beauty Queen and actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, the annual event is designed to empower women who are role models and also to maintain environmental friendliness.

Featuring a series of awards such as Best in a creative outfit, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent and Miss Friendship, attendees of this year’s edition will surely have their hand full.

“Miss Earth pageants strongly believed in being socially responsible for our immediate environment, unlike other pageants that raise queens, the pageant believed in raising ambassadors that will pioneer sustainable development in their environments.

“Every year, the four winners of the beauty pageants will represent the four main elements of the world each which includes Water, Air, Fire and Earth with the aim of promoting environmental awareness,” says Fiberesima.

The eventual winner amongst the four will become the environmental Earth warrior and ambassador who will represent the country at the international level.

How Socialite, Drug Peddler Toyin Igbira Died

Popular socialite, Monsurat Ashabi Oluwatoyin Oyemade popular as Toyin Igbira has passed on.

The woman who was notorious for drug peddling having been arrested severally died at the age of 56. She was born  in February, 18th 1963.

Toyin Igbira died on Saturday, July 19 of ovarian cancer in a Surulere hospital after battling the illness for over five years.

In her lifetime, she was a popular name among socialites, party bride and musician.

Though the woman had been sick for five years, she was rumoured to have survived the life-threatening illness two years ago before her recent demise.

Adieu Olufunke Olakunrin

The family of deceased Olufunke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere Leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti who was killed by suspected herdsmen on Friday, July 12, will have the opportunity to pay her their last respect tomorrow.

According to the burial plans released by the family, the deceased will be buried on Monday, July 22.

Events leading to her final burial, however, commenced with a commendation/night of tributes which took place on Friday, July 19, at Harbour Point Wilmot road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria lsland, Lagos.

It will climax with a burial ceremony at the Saito David’s Anglican Cathedral Ijomu, Akure while interment follows at the church cemetery.

Death is a sad occurrence, but it has a way of opening doors for people.

For Prince Ajibade Ogunoye, the death of Olateru-Olagbegi opened a big door. The death saw to his emergence as the new Olowo of Owo Kingdom.

Against all expectations, Prince Ogunoye’s emergence was peaceful, democratic and procedural.

Despite this, he still has the big challenge of unifying other contenders of the throne, as well as uniting all sons and daughters of Owo Kingdom.
