Dr. Sid, has advised Nigerian artistes to learn about record labels before starting one.
Speaking on the multitude of record labels in Nigeria, the singer said a lot of them invest in artistes, but don’t get their investment back.
According to him, a label which invests in an artiste should not make 50 percent as profit, but six times its investment.
Advising artistes who want to set up record label to learn about it and know what they are going into, Dr. Sid said: “For artistes who want to start their label, it is fine. If you look at the industry globally, there are the big four, Universal, Sony, Warner and maybe Colombia, but all of them own like a thousand other labels.
“So before you start a record label, go and learn what it is and understand what you are getting into.”
