Certainly the last has not been heard of the controversy surrounding the choice of South Africa as the location of the Nigerian themed Big Brother reality show. Femi Sowooluwho is a broadcaster and in recent times has started a radio station is also speaking out on the matter.  Writing in a post he titled ‘The New Reality: Fake It!’ on Facebook, he says:

‘There is everything wrong with hosting a reality show for Nigeria, with a cast of Nigerians, AND titled ‘Big Brother NIGERIA, then, ship it to South Africa for a South African TV production company/crew to shoot and transmit?

Smacks of ridicule, discrimination, utter disrespect, and blatant disregard for Nigeria and all Nigerians. It is a nasty slap on the industry and potential of the Nigerian professional who still excels among peers, despite all, and any manner of niggling societal or operational odds.

There are absolutely no tenable excuses for this affront to our dignity as a nation and as the most populous black region on Earth. A country where all manner of South African businesses and investments have discovered the new El Dorado! The nerve of it!

Every defense of this, and we know the regularly quoted culprits, (which are never mentioned, however, when those massive profits are sent to SA), can only be spun within the falsified circuit of the newly-fangled glossary item called, ‘Alternative Fact!’ There is no defence! There are no excuses! Minister Lai Mohammed, where are you? National Broadcasting Commission, please call DSTV to order, NOW!!!’
