A popular Yoruba saying has it that a household is jolly until the bastard of that family grows up.
Apparently, the saying does not apply to households alone, as it cuts across friendship too.
An inside source close to the royal family of Ikate Elegushi has confirmed the speculation making the rounds that the friendship between Olalekan Dosunmu and Oba Elegushi of Ikateland; Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi was brought to an end by his wife, Olori Sekinat Elegushi.
The source who spoke with www.thectopusnews.com in confidence revealed that the once jolly relationship between the friends who could easily passed for brothers was cut short by the beautiful Olori who put a spanner in the mechanism of her husband and his best friend.
Many would remember how the duo of Olalekan Dosunmu and Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi became two peas in a pod following the coronation of the young monarch.
Following the coronation, both set out to sow their royal oaths with Oba Elegushi celebrating his crown, while Dosunmu celebrated his rise as the Akinsiku of Lagos. As they travelled from one country to another globetrotting as if travelling was going out of fashion, they got criticized, but ignored all criticisms. Their friendship was just out of this world and then its bond like a balm healed all wounds.
However, all those are in the past, many thanks to Olori Sekinat Elegushi. Today, the friends don’t see each other anymore, their shadows don’t cross path.
The situation is so bad that their shadows even hate each other and hardly come close to one another.
Like two contrasting colours, they now avoid each other like a plague.
On Friday, May 4, when Akinsiku buried his father, Chief Adebola Alabi Dosunmu, Oba Elegushi was conspicuously missing at the grand reception at Queens Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Society big wigs reveal that Oba Elegushi pointedly shunned the ceremony. On a normal day, the young monarch would have been the Chairman of the event. Again, at the wedding of Dapo Alli-Balogun’s son which held at The Haven Event Centre, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, though the duo attended, they were at arm’s length, as they didn’t even exchange pleasantries.
