President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a Police officer in person of Abdulkarim Dauda, as his chief Security Officer.

This is coming following allegations that the military backed by politicians are planning to oust President Buhari through a coup.

The Presidency, to ensure the President`s safety appointed Abdulkarim Dauda as the new Chief Personal Security Officer.

On his part, Kayode Sikiru Akande was appointed Officer in Charge of Presidential Movement.

Abdulkarim Dauda and Kayode Sikiru Akande were both promoted from the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Abdulkarim Dauda replaces Abubakar Mani, who was fired earlier. The appointment of a Police officer as CSO to the President is a deviation from the norm, as it is a position reserved for the military.
