There have been several reactions to the absence of Anita Ebhodaghe-Schafer at the Saturday, October 6, wedding of her daughter Carissa to Ghanaian lover, Philip Frimpong.
The colourful and princess-like wedding which held in Lekki, Lagos state was well attended with both church members, friends of the family and celebrities in attendance.
Officiated by Pastor Benny Hinn, one face which was however conspicuously missing at the nuptial was that of the mother of the bride, who had parted ways with her former husband Pastor Chris Oyakhilome in 2015.
Ebhodaghe-Schafer’s absence at the wedding ceremony thus saw a lot of reactions with some people condemning her and other asking why she totally shunned both the traditional and white wedding of her daughter. Some people have also been quick to ask why the mother of two would shun what was supposed to be one of her happiest day in life.
However, www.theoctopusnews.com has exclusively been informed about the reason why the woman wasn’t at the wedding. A source at the church told us that it was because of the state of her relationship with her erstwhile husband, Pastor Oyakhilome.
Unlike some marriage where the couple get to remain friends after their separation, Oyakhilome and Ebhodaghe-Schafer parted ways controversially, amidst several allegations chief being that the man of God was engaging in illicit affairs with female members of the church. Their breakup thus saw them remaining sworn enemies, even till date.
Shortly after pulling down her profile form the official website of Christ Embassy, Ebhodaghe-Schafer announced she was no longer involved in its affairs, sparking off speculations. Things however went from bad to worse when she officially filed for divorce at Central Family Court, High Holborn, London, Untied Kingdom, citing her husband’s “unreasonable behaviour” and inappropriate relationships with members of staff, an intonation of “adultery” as her reason.

Many who still remember how the duo parted ways will remember a dirty legal battle over investments and allegations of adultery being bandied around.
“Since they broke up and went their separate ways, the woman has remarried and has moved on with her life. She is no longer and Oyakhilome, she is now a Ebhodaghe-Schafer. Do you know if her daughter even invited her for the marriage, she might not have been carried along, yet people are saying that she was not there,” a close church source told www.theoctopusnews.com.

Indeed, there is the possibility that Carissa could have been given an express order by her dad not to invite her mum knowing how messy the situation was between the duo before they parted ways. If Pastor Oyakhilome really did, he wouldn’t have been the first father to do such.
Following their separation, Ebhodaghe-Schafer moved on with the London church which she was coordinating before things fell apart. Since then, she has not looked back. She also managed to avoid the media only creating time for content on her website. Indeed, her absence at her daughter’s wedding is full of intrigues.
