For any successful man, clocking the ripe age of 60 years should be a milestone worth celebrating.

However, for the businessman, Mike Adenuga, that theory does not apply. The Globacom boss, who was 60 on Monday, April 29, opted for a low-key celebration devoid of fanfare.

And even when the low-key party started it soon turned into a scene from a Nollywood movie.

www.theoctopusnews.com was informed that on Friday, May 3rd at Mike Adenuga Tower on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State hundreds of staff of telecoms giant Globacom gathered at the lounge situated on the ground floor of the office building to celebrate with their chairman after a text message was passed round the office on Thursday afternoon inviting staff to a birthday bash with him.

Okey Bakassi was there as the MC, the DJ was already playing music, drinks passed round while people waited for the billionaire businessman to arrive. Adenuga eventually showed up in his Range Rover bullet proof SUV around 8pm. He graciously greeted people at the entrance of the lounge but stopped in his tracks, as people started cheering loudly as he entered the lounge.

We heard that the haling was so loud and probably too much for Adenuga that he immediately turned around and left the lounge. He got into his car and left with his security detail. He never came back even as his Globacom staff waited for a few hours and eventually left when they realized their chairman was not coming back.

Though an articulate business mogul, the man, who doubles as the boss at Conoil is known to shy away from parties and celebrations that do not involve him directly and only makes an appearance when he is left with no choice.

Those, who attended the church service of his daughter Bella’s wedding, will remember how the Guru spoke above a whisper when the officiating pastor asked who was giving the bride out.
