Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has revealed why he did not celebrate his taking the COVID-19 vaccine like some of his counterparts.
On Saturday, March 27, he revealed that the decision was taken because he did not want to make the exercise look like commissioning a project, adding that most Nigerians enjoy bringing politics into everything.
He stated that he can choose to pretend about taking the jab and by so doing, deceive the media.
The governor said this in response to claims among some of his detractors that he did not take the vaccine.
He said: “Some people said that I did not take my vaccine. I did, but am not into public shows. Taking a vaccine is not undertaking any project for anybody to see that you have taken a vaccine.
“It has turned to politics. Assuming what I am taking is not the vaccine? Yes, I can pretend and then they will put it on the news that I have taken the vaccine…”
Governor Wike said that he took the jab when a delegation of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) led by Mukhtar Muhammad, the national incident manager, paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.
