Police Restore Normalcy After Clash In Alaba International Market

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have restored normalcy to the Alaba International Market, Lagos.

Recall that there had been reports of unrest at the market, after traders and transporters got into a fight, leaving over 50 people allegedly shot, with several others injured.

Trouble started on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, when irate traders at the market battled members of a notorious road transport workers giving them problems at the market.

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident earlier, said the police is working to restore order in the area.

However, in a tweet minutes ago, he confirmed that calm had returned to the market, as operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squared (RRS) and officers from the Ojo Division were on ground under the supervision of the Area Commander of Festac,  Igbafe Afegbai.

According to Hundeyin, “there is no cause for alarm as monitoring continues.”
