Ojota Crisis: Yoruba Nation Leader Reacts To Alleged Killings By Police

Prof. Banji Akintoye, leader of Yoruba Nation has accused the police of killing their members who were on a peaceful protest at Ojota, Lagos.

Recall that there was crisis at Ojota in the early hours of today Monday, January 9, after men said to be Yoruba Nation agitators took to the street, disrupting commercial, and social activities.

In a series of tweets, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the agitators who came out in their hundreds shot two policemen during the protest. He also confirmed the death of one person.

However, in his reaction, Prof. Akintoye alleged that two young men were killed by security operatives even though they were exercising their rights against some repressive developments in Nigeria.

Akintoye stated that Nigerian officials are breaking the law as people have the right to self-determination.

He also said that even if the youths who embarked on the rally were caught breaking the law, it is not right for the police to kill them.

Furthermore, he revealed that they will be filing a report to the United Nation and the International Court of Justice over the alleged killings, stressing that there will be a price to be paid.
