Old Friends Return To Cecilia Ibru
Many would remember Cecilia Ibru’s days as the Managing Director of now defunct Oceanic Bank.
Then, she was one of the most respected women in the banking industry, and indeed she had important friends.
However, all that was before she was demystified by the banking sector reform of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The height of Ibru’s low times was her time in detention for fraud.
The situation left Ibru devoid of her sea of friends, as those she anticipated to be around her went their ways.
Subsequently, she went underground only surfacing occasionally. However, with the recent death of her husband, Olorogun Michael Ibru at the age of 86, some of the Cecilia’s friends are beginning to return, as they join her in mourning.
The probability that they will remain with her after her period of mourning remains to be seen.
