A body that will regulate and coordinate the affairs of new softsell Magazines and their Publishers has been born.

Tagged Guild of Soft Sell Publishers. It consists of some young, intelligent and highly vibrant individuals and journalist who are of the opinion that they have contributed their quota to the industry, hence kick stating a new phase in their career.

In a recent meeting which held in Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos state, members of the new body discussed strategies on how to move forward, how to position their brand, setting up a hierarchy and leadership structure among several other issues.

www.theoctopusnews.com also learnt that some aggrieved member of The League of Softsell Publishers have already begun to change faction by moving to the new body.

One of such members who spoke with www.theoctopusnews.com stated that he had a right to freedom of association and can associate with whoever he wants. Furthermore, he revealed that the reason why members of The League of Soft Sell Publishers are changing allegiance is simply because they feel left behind, hence the need to seek better ground.

Another member of the new body who spoke with us stated thus “The fact that we worked under these people who makeup The League of Publishers does not mean we can not set up our own business. I have heard them say some of our members are not professional journalist, but the truth is that you don’t have to be a journalist to own a business in the sector. In fact, you can employ a consultant and learn on the job, how many of their members can even write a proper story.  At a point, most of our members were either editing their papers or even managing the entire production and other jobs too. We know them well after all we have worked together in the past. They don’t want us to succeed in life, they want to see us working under them for life despite the fact that most of them can hardly pay the N15, 000.00 stipend they call salary. Most of the members of this league will tell you they left their place of work because they were almost turned to slaves despite been owed salary of several months.

If you think this is sad Perhaps the fact that another member of The Guild of Softsell Publishers revealed more shocking information to us would amaze you. His words” can you imagine that the members of The League of Publishers have gone to the extent of even calling their friends who are Corporate Affairs Executives in several organisations not to support us or our business? that is how sad it is, he stated.

Industry watchers who have been keeping tabs on the unfolding drama between these bodies generally hold the opinion that The League of Publishers intend to monopolize such association even when its obvious that only few amongst them enjoyed the benefit of the whole group illegally and  when they know that any group can set up a body or association whenever they like as long as they are of different names.
