Every great success starts with inspiration. Success stories of today’s achievers often don’t show the trial periods that super-achievers endure to realize their goals. However, that dedication is essential to their success.

For Juwon Rasak Lawal, the youthful brain behind ABD Fuels, an upscale Nigerian marine fuel company that markets and physically supplies marine fuels to ships at ports and sea along West Africa Coast mainly in both Nigeria and Cotonou territorial waters, commitment and the ability to play a team game are two of the vital elements of success. The success of his leadership at ABD lies in his gift of listening and staying open to ideas.

ABD Fuels offers marketing, trading and physical supply services. In Nigeria, it is supplying the four grades of bunker fuel as well as lubricant. The market serves fishing fleets, tankers, bulkers and containerships. There is also a demand of bunker products from the off-shore oil industry, and this outfit delivers on time.

Though, imbued with remarkable qualities of a skilled achiever, Juwon consents to his employees, sharing their personal values which are fused into the company’s ethics and conducts and the results are awesome.

Managing emotions being a key element to success, the Kogi State, Nigerian born Juwon is able to always remind himself that the two are manageable if well factored into one’s business.

Successful people maintain success by consistently learning and adapting to the environment around them. Juwon’s love for humanity, caring and enhancing the quality of life and development potentials of the less endowed, has seen him embarking on a wide range of empowerment schemes. For this alone, he won several achievement laurels apparels, the prominent two being Young Entrepreneur of The Year at Global Excellence Recognition Awards 2013, and at the 2013 edition of the Young Achiever’s Awards, on the same category.

Between 1997 and 1999, Juwon was at UNIJOS where he bagged a Diploma in Business Management. Between 2001 and 2004, he was at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria where he also obtained a B.Sc in Business Administration.

For the period of 2005-2006, Juwon went into business, consulting in oil marketing and training. And in 2007, he established Stevepel Energy Resources Limited, a reputable oil and gas outfit.

By 2009, adding to the fleet of the company aimed at caring for maritime logistics services, he introduced a sister company called S.T. & L. In 2011, S.T. & L changed to ABD Fuels. ABD Fuels is now a corporate member of The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA).

In 2010, ABD Fuels started its own lubricants project. It is a new premium brand of lubricants engine oil which will be launched in Nigeria in due course. Nudged by his professional desire to know more, he later went for training at Refinery Automation Institute, Singapore.

Indeed, courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend. Therefore, it takes tremendous courage for Juwon to take the business risks necessary to become one of the most desirable entrepreneurs of today.
