Actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima talks about the failure of her last marriage in this interview with our reporter.

What have you been up to in recent times?

A lot. I have been busy making films, working on my open air cinema project, an innovative community distribution plan and other projects which I will unfold very soon.

Can you give us an update on your movie “Along Came a Butterfly”?

“Along Came a Butterfly” is an emotional thriller on the plight of the terrorist menace in the North-Eastern part of the country. It centers on the activities in the Internally Displace Person camps (IDP), and the plight of displaced persons.

What inspired it?

It was inspired by my several visits to IDP camps in the North East. I was touched by what they go through daily. The plight of the children orphaned as a result of the terrorists. I was inspired to tell their untold story to the world.

You have been giving out scholarships to school children, why are you doing this?

This is personal but of course, my life is centered on how to contribute positively to humanity. Children are our future, investing in them is securing a better future for all. The scholarship to children is part of my giving back to humanity.

Who really is Ibinabo?

Ibinabo is a mother, a true friend, and a sister. She is just that simple next door neighbour that has big dreams, is extra hardworking and loves family dearly.

Will you seek love again after the last marriage?

I leave that to God to decide. I am an embodiment of love and if it’s God desire so be it.

Has the breakup derailed your plans or are you fulfilled with where you are today?

I am a firm believer in God. Nothing can derail what God has planned. I am always happy in every situation as long as my God is alive.

At 44, how do you maintain your beauty?

I give all glory to God. I don’t do anything extraordinary to maintain my beauty. It’s just from inside because I live a contented life. I don’t stress myself over earthly things. I am always happy.

You recently worked with Rivers State Government, what was it all about?

I am a proud Rivers State Woman. Rivers State celebrated her Golden Jubilee.  I was part of the organizing subcommittee for the celebration of Rivers at 50.

Do you see yourself shooting a biopic or writing a memoir anytime soon?

Ibinabo: My story is ongoing, if I write a book it would be so lengthy so let’s just keep glorying God and see where he is taking all of us.

How have you been able to reinvent yourself over the years and remain relevant?

My first son’s father would say, ‘Ibinabo, when you have God, you will always be relevant.’ I didn’t quite understand him but now I do. My son is 19; so over two decades later it makes sense. If you have God in you and trust God you will always be relevant in a good way.

It’s not difficult to tell that you have succeeded in bringing warring Nollywood actresses together.

The only reason they don’t talk with each other is because of rivalry and what people say. So I just try to teach them to love themselves and if this other person is doing well give him or her thumbs up because you will do better. There is no need to beef each other, I always implore them to love each other and thank God they listen.

What is the next chapter in your

My life is designed by God and he directs me on the next chapter.

Your photos where you dressed in traditional Rivers attires went viral, what was the occasion?

One does not need an occasion to identify with one’s tradition. Like I said, we did a lot of work at Rivers at 50 and many of them had to do with promoting the rich and diverse culture of the state. As a true daughter of the soil, I had to represent where I come from. I was leading by example. Yes we may be well traveled and well educated, we should always remember where we come from and be ready to identify with it anytime.

I know a lot of people who were inspired by those attires that you saw and they went out to get some made for them. There was no occasion, it was just me being proud of my heritage.
