Adeyemi Ikuforiji was surrounded by several controversies, in his time as speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, a position she vacated after the 2015 general elections.

While in office, one of Ikuforiji’s biggest controversies remains his N500m money laundering allegation.

However, the man was able to walk away from everything when the court upheld a no-case submission by his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), who argued that the EFCC failed to make out a prima facie case against Ikuforiji.

Since his time in the Lagos parliament elapsed, the former Speaker has been enjoying a low-key life. However, all that is about to come to an end, as his old nightmare has bounced back.

The reason is that Godwin Obla, the former chief prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who handled Ikuforiji’s case, is currently undergoing prosecution for issues bothering on bribery and corrupt enrichment.

The situation with Obla has been linked to Ikuforiji’s case, as some of the cases, which the then EFCC man handled including that of Ikuforiji has been called for retrial.
