A former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, is reportedly set to return to his old party, All Progressive Congress (APC).
Benue State’s APC Chairman; Comrade Abba Yaro, disclosed this, adding that the party will welcome both new and former members back.
Describing the former speaker as a valuable asset, Yaro said that Ikyange will strengthen the popularity and acceptability of the APC in Benue State.
The return of Ikyange follows that of Yakubu Dogara, the former speaker of the House of Representatives who decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Dogara and Governor Mai Malam Buni of Yobe State had a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Friday, July 24, before officially announcing Dogara’s return to his old party.
Recall that in a bid to ensure a stronger party ahead of the 2023 elections the APC in the spirit of reconciliation had appealed to disgruntled members to return to the party.
