Among several questions that have been trailing popular Ghana-based actress Emelia Brobbey for some time now is if she really stole during her holiday trip.

The actress, was arrested for allegedly stealing a piece of  jewellery while shopping during her vacation in London.

Ghollywood received the news with shock, as initial reports had it that Brobbey hid the jewellery in her underpants and when she was apprehended and asked for her address she gave the officers the address of her host, fellow actress Gloria Agyeman.

When Police raided the home of Agyeman, they arrested another actress Eunice Akua Adjeiwaa who had overstayed her visa in the United Kingdom.

Eunice was immediately arrested and deported to Ghana, while  Brobbey’s deportation followed later.

Surprisingly, Brobbey arrived in Ghana to an heroic welcome, as she was met at the airport by colleagues who came to support her, chanting songs of victory on her arrival. Speaking in a televised press briefing she said that she had been wrongfully represented in the press. She said the incident happened when a bracelet accidentally fell into her baby carriage without knowing it until the alarm beeped when she was about leaving the shop, to signify that she had an items that had not been paid for.

The actress, said she explained to the security and even paid for it when the shop attendant asked if she wanted to keep the bracelet. She hinted that she was pursued later by police after she had given her address because she was perceived to be in the country illegally”.

Despite all these explanations from the actress and the support she got from friends, family and colleagues on arrival one fact that a lot of people have established is that the deportation of two of Ghana’s popular actress in a week by the British Police has brought about negative attention to the country, even as some people still argue that Brobbey might have actually stolen the jewellery.
