Contentment is not a virtue ascribed to a lot of men, while most selfish quests ends in regret.

This basic analogy describes the situation that Abdullahi Inde Dikko the outgoing Comptroller General of Customs has found himself in, as the congratulatory advertorials placed in some Newspapers by his friends, namely Dr. Randy Brown, Alhaji Usman Bawa, Arc. Green Markson has been causing him sleepless night since it was published.

www.theoctopusnews.com, was informed that, the message which regarded the extension of Inde’s tenure by two years, has landed him in trouble, because there was no official confirmation from the Presidency, nor the Federal Ministry of Finance, which oversee the Custom Service that any such extension has been confirmed.

The presumed move, we heard has since backfired landing the Katsina-born man in serious problem with the powers that be. The Presidency, we learnt became embarrassed by the controversies that trailed the publication, which reads, “Congratulations to the Great Man For the 2 years extension in office APPROVED by the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR. This extension attests to the stuff you are made of. Ride on Sir, you are a man amongst men, officer amongst officers. Nigeria appreciates your good work. Ride on great man!”, as it has brought so much aspersions to the already bedraggled office of the President.

The orchestrated extension has been described as been in negation of the January of 2010, approved tenure system of parastals, agencies and statutory corporations of government, which also stipulates 60 years of age and 35years in service for mandatory retirement.

Following the criticism that trailed the publication the Presidency, allegedly summoned Abdulahi Dikko, over the pronouncement. As it is, his desperation, to remain in power, may have been jettisoned but www.theoctopusnews.com learnt that Dikko, who is not 60 years old yet and have not been up to 35years in service, still stand, a chance of getting the much desired extension.

If you recall his four year term has been contentious and thorny, in fact his problems, started before he assumed that position. Remember the unprecedented outcry, that followed his insinuated nomination, by Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, the billionaire close friend of Late President Umaru Yar’adu, and supported by his wife Hajia Turai, whom’s sister Dikko married.

Amidst all that, on August 18, 2009, in a phony manner the late President, appointed Abulahi Dikko Inde as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, replacing former Comptroller Bernard Shaw Nwadialor, whose tenure expired after 35 years in service, having served for only six months. Little did he settle down, that the putrid, certificate forgery allegation came calling at his doorstep.

Then, the accusation was brought by one Olajide Oyewole, and was taken up Lagos based lawyer, Festus Keyamo, unfortunately the petitioner, was shot dead in Lagos about two years ago.

The case was later thrown out by Justice Yetunde Idowu of the Lagos High Court for and lacking required evidence. Earlier in the year, he was also summoned by the House of Representatives due to fraudulent disparities, in the Custom’s remittances into the Federation account.

According to an insider,’It’s not surprising that despite all these demerits Dikko, is doing everything, to stay in power, as Comptroller, it is a very lucrative seat, after your tenure, you’ll likely make more money than a Governor’.

Rumour are now rite that the Federal Government will soon announce the appointment of Yobe State born Assistant Comptroller Mohammed as the new Customs boss.
