Mariam Elisha, the brain behind brand Rikaoto by ME, is no newcomer in the Nigerian fashion scene. Since she made her debut in 2010, she has grown remarkably and over the years become the envy of top guns of the sector due to her achievements.

Her towering achievements recently saw her participating in the recently concluded D.C. Fashion Week, which featured the Spring and Summer 2014 Collections of designers from around the world. The show, saw the designer been highly patronised by mostly white attendees, as she almost sold out her entire collection.

The colourful event, took place at the Woolly Mammoth Theater and it was a big experience for Rikaoto, as it was filled with fun. Dresses made of up-cycled cork screws and dolls by Isagus Extroversions, demonstrated how ordinary materials could be transformed into extraordinary works of wearable art.

Her participation was truly a wonderful experience as she shared time with a lot of leading designers back stage, top international models plus a uniquely different American audience. The event; was definitely a major milestone in Rikaoto’s career, even as she plans on expanding as she grows.
