That the people of Oyo State don’t serve an individual twice was a popular saying before Abiola Ajimobi became the governor.
In the history of the state, it was unheard of, as no governor had ever enjoyed two terms.
As such, Ajimobi’s case wasn’t expected to be an exception. However, it proved to be when he was elected for his second term in office in 2015.
His victory was hinged on the love that the people of Oyo had for him. Coincidentally, a lack of affection was what failed him when he recently contested and lost the recently held senatorial election.
Believed to be an election in the bag from the start, friends and political associates of the man were shocked to hear that the first two-term winning governor lost an election in his backyard.
