WTO: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Reaches Final Selection Stage

Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has reached the finals in her bid to become the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Presently, Okonjo-Iweala’s only opposition candidate is South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee.
Speaking on her achievement thus far on Thursday, October 8, she thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians for their support.
“Happy to be in the final round of the @wto DG campaign. Thanks, WTO members for your continued support of my candidacy.
“I could not have made it without the prayers and support of all Nigerians and friends around the world. Thank you @MBuhari and all my friends. Aluta continua!”
Recall that President Buhari’s nomination of Okonjo-Iweala as a candidate for the position of the Director-General was accepted by the international organisation on Tuesday, June 9, after it stated that nominations for the office were still open.
