Primeboy is presently a sensation in the Nigerian music industry.
Unfortunately, his fame is not due to the success of his growing music career, but his alleged involvement in the death of equally fast-rising star, Mohbad.
Late Mohbah and Primeboy
Mohbad died under questionable circumstances on September 12 and Primeboy was the last person allegedly spotted with him.
He is infamously remembered for a video posted online in which he was seen screaming that Mohbad had died.
In the video, Primeboy sat on the driver’s side of a car while the motionless body of the late singer was captured lying in the backseat of the car.
After being declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command for not honouring invitations extended to him to assist in the investigation of the circumstances that led to the death of the singer, www.theoctopusnews.com went on a dig about Primeboy.
Not known as a successful musician, Primeboy dropped a single titled “Oluwanishola” in May 2020.
Aside from *Oluwanishola”, the singer also has credit for songs such as “Paradise”, *Oya Sa”, “Calm Down”, “Soji”, “Dey Play”, “Ijo Ope”, with his most recent effort being a “Tribute to Mohbad”.
Described as a songwriter and Afro-singer, his real name is Owodunni Ibrahim.
Primeboy, a childhood friend of Mohbad, had denied allegations of an altercation with the deceased singer.
In the wake of Mohbad’s death, Primeboy was fingered by many, however, he debunked having any hand in the death of the late singer calling him his childhood friend, adding that they had no rift before his demise.
Reacting to the rumours via Instagram, Primeboy claimed they were on good terms before the singer died.
“I keep seeing a lot of rumours out there, that something happened on Sunday, maybe that led to the death of Mohbad. Nothing happened on Sunday. Nothing happened between me and my friend, we were fine from the Island,” he said.
Further, he added “Whoever says I kill my friend, God will judge you except if I have a hand in it. What really happened that Sunday, me and Mohbad were on stage together and Mohbad was f**king high that day.
“So he sat down in his car after we came down from the stage. His wife was sitting in our middle so I do not know anything that happened, he was just grumpy. He wanted to get out of the car and I was like do not get down, wait, let me go and clear the road.
“Please I know nothing about it, I did not even touch Mohbad. He hit me, I did not even do anything. God knows, his wife was there also and the Prado man and security. Please do not say what you do not know to make your investigation. I did not have any issues with Mohbad, he calls me all the time, I do not stay with them please, and please I know nothing.”
While the cause of Mohbad’s death is still under investigation, his dad Joseph Aloba, maintains he died shortly after an auxiliary nurse was invited to give him an injection.
