Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has had a good run.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIRS), his scorecard was enviable. He was popular for increasing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Lagos State.
Since his appointment at the federal level, he has also not disappointed, as staggering figures have been released as revenue generated under his watch. Little wonder he was elected the president of the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF).
However, the tax magician appears to run into muddy waters with recent speculations trailing him.
It appears that his alleged ambition to be the next Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the sad tale of some of his boys being allegedly arrested for fraud has taken some shine off him.
