Sound Sultan announces venture into Movies and Basketball at Industry Nite

Talented and award winning music act, Lanre Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan has taken a bold step in his career by venturing into movie production and sports, with  the  acquisition of  Lagos based basketball team, “The Islanders”.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, September 23,2014 at the Spice Route, Victoria Island when he was hosted at weekly music networking event, Industry Nite.

The movie titled “Head Gone” sees the musical star play the role of the director and producer with support from his brother and label co-owner, Dare Fasasi better known as Baba Dee. The star studded movie features appearances from  popular faces such as Ali Baba, Afeez “Saka” Oyetoro,Eniola Badmus, Basketmouth, IK, Zack Orji, Wale Ojo, 2Face Idibia, Baorge Tariah Jnr to mention a few.

 Speaking on the new business move, Sound Sultan said, “As most people are aware  I love basketball and movies a lot .So I decided why not invest  in what you love, which is sport and filmmaking, asides music of course . So I discussed with my family and team, and we drew a strategy and implemented.The result of which you will be seeing very soon”.  

The night was not one for just talks alone, as the artist took guests down memory lane as he performed some of his hit tracks from back in the days, such as “Bush Meat”, “Jagbajantis”, “Orobo”, “Kokose” not to mention a few with a career spanning over a decade.

Label mates Young Grey C, Kamar and Blackha were also present to support their boss, also performing their individual tracks.

Celebrities who came out to party with the artist on the night included Deji Awokoya,  Tonia Soares, Adams Soundcity, Muna, Lami, TY Mix, Sasha amongst many

Industry Nite, since its inception has celebrated Nigerian music acts such as D’banj, 2Face, Wizkid, MI, Burna Boy, Ice Prince not to mention a few also giving upcoming acts a platform to showcase their creativity, with many of them securing record deals and winning cash prizes.

 The event was hosted by Beat FM On air personality Jimmie, while music on the night was provided by Dj Spinall.

Industry Nite is put together by El Carnaval, YSG Hubs, and Smirnoff, with media support from the Beat FM and Pulse.ng.
