Rendezvous Playlist: MI Returns With Another Collaborative Effort

On October 30, 2014, rapper M.I released his third studio album titled: ‘Chairman’.
The album, which was released on his record label Chocolate City, was supposed to confirm his place as Nigeria’s foremost and leading rapper, The Chairman.
However, the album failed to achieve its aim. Not only did it not live up to expectation via its lyrical content, it was also greeted with criticisms of too much collaborations.
On the ‘Chairman’ album, M.I collaborated with Koker, Wizkid, Reminisce, Moti Cakes, Emmy Ace, Beenieman, Nosa, Milli, Oritsefemi, Frank Edward and Nanya on it. Others on the album include; 2face, Sound Sultan, Morell, Loose Kaynon, Debbie, Ice Prince, Sarkodie, DJ Lambo, Seyi Shay, Phyno, Runtown, Stormrex, Patoranking, Olamide and IJ. For an artiste whose previous album, ‘Talk About It’ was rated average, the loads of collaborations on ‘Chairman’ was simply an indication that M.I had lost confidence in himself and was hoping to fly with the other collaborations on the album.
That was in 2004. Presently, M.I is promoting his new album titled: ‘Rendezvous’.
Recently, the artiste held an album listening party in his Lekki Phase One, Lagos home. The party had individuals such as Skales, Falzthebahdguy, 2Baba, Gbenro Ajibade and several others in attendance.
An X-ray of ‘Rendezvous’ revealed nothing different from the ideology behind ‘Chairman’. ‘Rendezvous’ is a compilation of musical efforts from M.I and several other artistes such as Wande Coal, Terry Apala, Nonso, AKA, Amadi, Odunsi, Tomi Thomas and Young L.
Other artistes on the ‘Rendezvous’ album are Cassper Nyovest, Moelogo, Dice Ailes, CKay, Nonso Amadi and others.
While reviews for ‘Rendezvous’ are yet to begin to pour in, the chances of its being able to do better than ‘Chairman’ is what only time can tell.
