Dayo Adewole, the son of former minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has been kidnapped by gun men.

The younger Adewole was kidnapped in the evening of Tuesday, June 18, on his farm in Iroko, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Confirming the kidnap on Wednesday, June 19, Oyo police spokesman, Olugbega Fadeyi, said the police were in ‘serious chase’ of the kidnappers, but later lost them.

According to Fadeyi, the police were informed that four armed men went to the farm to kidnap the young man and they immediately gave the armed men a hot chase.

Furthermore, he said the vehicle allegedly used for the kidnap was recovered in a bush during the chase.

It was suspected that the kidnappers might have changed their vehicle following persistent announcement on radio after the Oniroko of Iroko raised the alarm.

“We have continued to give a serious manhunt for the rescue of the victim.

“The anti-kidnapping squad, police patrol men among others have been deployed so that the young man can be rescue,” the spokesman said.

Fadeyi said he was unaware if the kidnappers had contacted the victim’s family.

The ex-minister has been informed of the incident and is on his way back to Nigeria from his trip abroad.
