Oscar Pistorius has just been sentenced to 6 years in prison for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp.
He faced up to 15 years in prison but the judge said there were “substantial and compelling reasons” to deviate from the 15-year minimum sentence, citing as one factor, the continuing misconception that Pistorius had intended to kill his girlfriend.
She said a a long-term imprisonment will not serve justice as Oscar is already a broken man, a fallen hero.
The Steenkamp family looked stunned that Oscar only received 6 years but said nothing. And Oscar can be paroled for good behaviour after serving a 3rd of his sentence, which is just 2 years.
