Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his national broadcast of Thursday, October 22.
Obasanjo commended the president while speaking during a virtual meeting of former Heads of State which held on Friday, October 23.
Commending the President for his nationwide broadcast speech Obasanjo said: ”I commend the speech of last night. The nation had been waiting.
“You made points that I believe need to be commended. Peaceful demonstration is part of democratic practice.
“The demands of the genuine protesters were accepted, and you are working on implementation. We commend you.”
The meeting of former Heads of State was attended by Generals Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd), Goodluck Jonathan, and Chief Ernest Shonekan.
Others present at the meeting included the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd).
Also present were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olanisakin; Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; director-general Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, and director-general, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai.
