Dickson has washed his hands off the decision of the ‘whistle blower’, George Uboh, to sue the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),Ibrahim Larmode,to court over the alleged under-remittance of N1 trillion recovered from the sale of the property of former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha by the commission.

Uboh had, among other things, claimed before the Senate Committee on Public Petitions that the Dickson administration was intimidated to withdraw from the suit.

But Dickson clarified at the weekend in Yenagoa that his administration did not authorise Uboh to drag Lamorde to court over the N1trn saga.

Dickson, who was addressing members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, stated that his government only gave the petitioner the permission to help recover monies allegedly withheld from Bayelsa  by the EFCC.

“What I know is that some funds were recovered and sent through the proper channels. The diplomatic corps are part of the management of it. The Nigerian High Commission working with the British Government and other foreign governments  got involved through the investigative agencies and through the Attorney-General’s Office.

“It’s a normal protocol and I know that my immediate predecessor (Timipre Sylva) received the bulk of it. I was told that that was what he used to lay the foundation of the Transparency Plaza which he started. Of course, he didn’t complete it as he didn’t complete anything.

“When we came on board in October, we received a remittance and it was part of the transparency report of that month announced to the state and it was properly utilized for the common good.

“The amount we have received so far is £1million, 210,000,170. The story about that gentleman (Uboh), what happened is that some elders from this state brought him to the Commissioner for Finance and here, our eyes are always red when it comes to getting money to add to our money here to spend for public good”, he said.
