Possers are arising about who the sponsors of Baba Ijesha’s defence are.

The comic actor whose real name is Olanrewaju Omiyinka was recently granted bail of N2 million by the Lagos State Special Offences Court on Thursday, June 24, after being represented by two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).

Dada Awosika (SAN) and Babatunde Ogala (SAN), announced their appearance as lawyers representing the actor before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo during Thursday’s proceedings at the Ikeja Special Offences Court.

Also representing the comedian were a team of six junior counsels.

Delivering judgment on a bail application, the presiding judge, Justice Taiwo, ordered that Baba Ijesha be released on bail while the trial continues.

As part of the bail condition, the actor must provide the amount alongside two sureties, one of which must be a legal practitioner and the second a family relation.

The judge, however, said that the actor must perfect the bail terms and conditions within the next seven days, adding that the trial would begin on July 26 through 27 and 28 respectively.

The question of who is bankrolling the defence of the comic actor knowing that he can barely afford such expensive representation has now become a major talking point in the entertainment industry.

The comedian was alleged to have sexually molesting a 14-year-old girl described as the foster daughter of comedienne Damilola Adekoya popular as Princess.

Baba Ijesha is trying desperately to avoid life imprisonment, knowing that is what he will face if found guilty.
