In the wake of the removal of Mohammadu Sanusi as the Emir of Kano, Governor Nasiru El-Rufai was one of the men who stood by him.
The governor of Kano State was instrumental in providing comfortable accommodation for the monarch who had quickly fallen from grace to grass.
Within days, he appointed him Deputy Chairman of the state’s investment promotion agency and Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU). The moves confirmed their friendship.
Recently when El-Rufai was at the receiving end of criticisms following the withdrawal of his invitation as one of the speakers at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference, Sanusi, like a true buddy stood by his friend, holding brief for him and proffering a better way in which the issue for which his invitation was withdrawn could have been better handled. Indeed, Sanusi is a friend indeed.
