Enobore stated this in a communique on Monday, September 13, adding that the attack took place at about midnight on Sunday, September 12.

Recall that the prisoners escaped after an attack on the facility by yet to be identified armed gunmen.

The attackers arrived at the facility in their numbers and engaged the armed guards in a fierce gun battle, leading to the death of law enforcement officers.

Meanwhile, the Comptroller–General, Haliru Nababa, has ordered that a recapture procedure be immediately activated and a detailed investigation is carried out.

There were reportedly 294 inmates at the custodial facility at the time of the invasion, out of which 224 were pre-trial detainees and 70 convicted inmates.
