Efforts to see that legendary Nigerian musician, Majek Fashek is buried with fanfare in his motherland has failed.

Following his death in America, the remains of Majek Fashek was to be buried in America by Randy his son.

However, his choice fans and well-wishers in Nigeria reached out to his family with the intention of raising funds to bring back his corpse for a befitting burial.

Led by E.J. Agbonayinma, a music enthusiast and the owner of U&I Records, Nigerians were urged to contribute to a purse and not to allow the reggae icon to be buried like an ordinary man.

However, the effort that lasted months appeared to have failed, as Randy Fashek has now confirmed that his father would now be buried in America.

In a video recently released, he hinged his decision on the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.

Majek Fashek died on June 1, at the age of 57 after a prolonged battle with esophageal cancer.
