Hamzat Dies From Coronavirus Complication

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, is bereaved.
Dr. Hamzat lost his 37-year-old brother, Dr. Haroun Hamzat, to COVID-19 complications.
Hamzat was a Medical Officer at one of the Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) under Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) before his death.
A statement by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) also confirmed the passing of the medical expert.
Dr. Haroun’s death comes days after a former vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, also died of COVID-19 complications.
It also follows the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 warned that another lockdown is likely in Nigeria with the rising cases of coronavirus in the country.
The PTF expressed concerns that Nigerians have continued to shun the prescribed protocols despite the second wave of the virus hitting hard. National coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu, said the only way to prevent a re-introduction of a lockdown is by adhering to the advisories by citizens.
