GOLDBERG FUJI T’O BAM MAKES GRAND FINALE VISIT TO OLUBADAN

The 2016 Goldberg Fuji t’o Bam got to the climax on Friday when managers of the brand stormed the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Olasupo Adetunji, as part of the activities for the final held at the Trans Amusement Park.

Tayo Adelaja, Public Affairs Manager, West and Mid-West, Nigerian Breweries Plc, explained to the royal father and his chiefs that Goldberg attaches importance to the culture of the Yorubas wherever they are hence the reason for the Goldberg Fuji t’o Bam geared towards the discovery of talents in Nigeria’s only indigenous genre of music, Fuji.

He disclosed that Goldberg respects the throne of Oba Adetunji as the centerpiece of Yoruba culture and as such there was no way the team would organize the final of Fuji t’o Bam in Ibadan without first getting the royal blessing from the Kabiesi.

 Adelaja recalled that when Oba Adetunji blessed KWAM 1 some years ago, things never remained same for the Fuji maestro. He said since then King Wasiu Ayinde’s profile has been on the upswing. His words: ‘There is no way we will enter this city without coming to pay homage toKabiesi to show respect to his throne. Moreover, we know that Kabiesi is a lover of Fuji music, and there is no place we can take the final of such a great talent show to other than Ibadan because we recognize Kabiesi’s love for music.’

Impressed by the recognition given to his kingdom, Oba Adetunji commended Goldberg for the initiative which is serving as an impetus for upcoming Fuji artistes who are in dire need of support in order to actualize their goals.

The royal father noted that Goldberg is a rare brand that has carved out a niche for itself in the area of socio-cultural development of the society. As a result, he assured the visiting team that his kingdom would continue to support the brand in terms of advertising it to the people in his domain.

Part of the side attractions during the visit was renditions made by some of the finalists present. Mufutau Alani from Ibadan, Alausa Olalekan from Lagos and Saheed Ishola from Sango-Ota took turns to greet the Kabiesi in Fuji music.

Funso Ayeni, Senior Brand Manager, Regional Mainstream, Nigerian Breweries Plc, applauded the royal father for the warm reception given to the team. He promised the royal father that Goldberg would continue to explore possible ways through which the culture of the Yorubas could be given a leap.
