A former interim deputy governor of Plateau State, Jethro Akun, has died.
He died at the age of 76, on Thursday, February 4, after a brief illness.
Prior to his death, the politician was a key member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, the Plateau state government confirmed the demise of the ex-deputy governor.
Governor Simon Lalong described the late Akun as an astute politician.
Governor Lalong said that Akun’s death is a great loss to Plateau State and the nation as a whole.
The governor added that the politician made huge contributions to the development of the state during his political career.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased and prayed that God will grant his soul eternal rest.
In 2006, the late politician was appointed as Deputy Governor to Michael Botmang who took over as governor after his boss Joshua Dariye was impeached Akun and his boss spent six months in office before they were removed by the Supreme court which declared the interim administration illegal.
