Finalist emerge for 2013 GTB Principals Cup

The prestigious Lagos State Principals Cup, which is hosted by one of the best banks in Africa, GTBank, has produced finalist for the 2013 edition of the tourney.

Four teams partook in the semi-finals of the competition on Friday played at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos to produce finalists at both the male and female categories.

In the first semi-final match, CMS Girls Grammar School defeated Government College Agege 3-2 to emerge winner, while the second semi-final match was played between Ikotun Senior High School and Jubilee Senior Model School.

The match was decided through a penalty shootout, which the latter won by 3-2. In the boys category, Ogunmodede Senior College defeated Oriwu Senior Model College by 2-0 while Keke High School defeated LABASCO, Agege 2-1 to qualify for the final of the tournament.

Goalkeeper of Jubilee Senior Model School, Obia Christiana, speaking to journalists after the match, said, “we really merited this victory because we worked for it. When we lost out at the semi-finals of this competition last year, we made up our minds that we must make it to the final this year and we worked towards achieving that.”

The GTBank/Lagos State Principal has been a major competition in Lagos that has become one of the major competitions played in the state and also held in high esteem.

The winner of the 2013 edition of the competition takes N1million in both the male and female categories. The first, second and third runners-up will receive N750,000, N500,000 and N250, 000 respectively.

Guaranty Trust Bank will also provide the sporting equipment such as balls, goal post nets and corner flags throughout the duration of the competition.
