Umar Hammandikko, the brother of a top associate of ex- Nigeria’s Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has been kidnapped.
Hammandikko was kidnapped by gunmen at Njoboliyo in Yola South Local Government of Adamawa State.
Umar Hammandiko is a younger brother to Jauro Turaki one of the closest allies of the former vice president.
According to sources, Hammandikko was kidnapped on the night of Saturday, August 24, at Njoboli by armed gunmen.
The source said: “The abductors, five in number, armed to the teeth with guns, whisked him away to an unknown destination.”
The kidnap of Hammandiko is one of the first incident recorded in weeks following intensified efforts by security operatives to tame the menace in the state.
The image-maker of Adamawa State police command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje who confirmed the incident said a police crack team has been deployed to the area to effect the rescue of the victim and arrest the culprits.
