Eva Alordiah, popularly known as EVA  is a rapper, song writer, model, dancer and make -up artist (CEO OF MAKE UP BY ORSELA). The Nigerian-born rapper hails from Delta state and is a graduate of Bowen University with a degree in Computer Science. Her first ever studio recording titled “I Dey Play” was released with the assistance of Tha Suspect in 2009 with the instrumental piece from Lil Wayne’s “A Millie”. The song got great attention from fans and received airplays on radio stations giving Eva more recognition. The success of that single propelled her to record more songs and participate in collaboration with other well known artists.

Eva began her music career in the year 2009 with the release of her Lil Wayne inspired single. Teaming up with Cartiair, she was featured in the remix of  “Owo Ati Swagger” Terry tha Rapman, Gino and the late Dagrin. The song became one of the biggest songs of the year with nominations in several award shows including “Best Collaboration In A Video Award” which created a greater level of recognition for the female rapper.

She began building a larger fanbase for herself by recording amazing songs and offering them as free music. With songs/singles like “I Stay” over a Yanni original,“‘Relentless” (produced by T.K), and  over the DJ Premier produced song for Gangstarr” of the same title, Eva proved her uncontestable worth and rap skills.

Eva The EP

In 2011, she announced the release of her first body of work titled ‘the GIGO EP’ which was to be released before her debut albuming  “I want to give my fans an original taste of my music, original beats from me to them. This is going to be a compilation of several different me’s, its probably my only chance to be anything and everything I want to be in a compilation. Right after this, my debut album follows.” “The GIGO EP”  contains songs in several genres, showcasing Eva’s versatility and unique style. When asked why she wasn’t releasing a mixtape first like other rappers would, she replied say

Eva started working on her debut extended play as an independent artist. On 20 November 2011, she released the EP which is an acronym for Garbage in Garbage Out. The EP was released under 3UD management. It consists of 9 songs and was released as a free digital download. The EP was supported by the singles “I Done Did It”, “Down Low”, “Garbage Out (Your Fada)”, and “High”. The EP’s production was handled by Sossick, Tintin, and Gray Jon’z. “I Done Did it” was released as the EP’s first single. It was produced by Sossick. In a 2012 interview with Halley Bondy of MTV Iggy, Alordiah said she was honoured to have worked with the aforementioned producers. She also said she had fun recording the EP.

Eva released the second single “High” in 2012. The music video for the single, directed by Mex, was released on 24 May 2012. It was uploaded onto YouTube at a total length of 4 minutes and 37 seconds. The video premiered on MTV Base in May 2012 When the video was released, many people misinterpreted the meaning of the song and thought that it annuelled drug use. In the aforementioned interview with Bondy of MTV Iggy, Alordiah said that the song is about overcoming the struggles and hardships of life.

In May 2012, it was reported that Alordiah signed a record deal with Da Trybe 2.0, a record label owned by record producer and recording artist eLDee. In November 2013, Ariya Today reported that Alordiah was dropped from Trybe Records. According to the press release signed by the management of the recording outfit, Alordiah’s ideas and foresight didn’t align with the label’s plans. In an interview with Bellanaija, Alordiah denied reports about being signed to Trybe Records despite the press release statements from the label. After the Trybe Records saga in 2012, she took a break from the music scene and spent time reflecting on her craft.

In February 2013, she worked with producer Sossick to release “Mercy”, a song that was made available for download on her blogsite. The song was produced and co-written by the aforementioned producer. In December 2013, UK producer Drox featured her in the music video for “Mercy”. He released several official remixes of the song, including a “Summer Mix” and a “Jackin Storm” mix.

In August 2013, Alordiah signed a Management contract with Radioactiiv. In Augsut 2013, Nokia Nigeria enlisted her as one of the judges for their annual Don’t Break Da Beat competition.

The songs which became her fan’s favourites received massive airplay and made  Eva a top shot in the league of female rappers in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. The ‘GIGO EP’ was released on the 20th of November, 2011. On the HiphopWold Magazine website, she was hailed as the ‘Next Rated Act’, with an article fully describing why she should be next rated.

Eva Alordiah released the promotional single “Lights Out” on the 29th of  July 2013, . The song was produced by Gray Jon’z. The music video for the song was directed by Patrick Elis. In an interview with the Leadership newspaper, Alordiah said she recorded the song to showcase her versatility as an artist.

The album was produced by Tintin and Gray Jon’z. On 24 January 2014, Alordiah released “Deaf” as the album’s lead single. (produced by Gray Jon’z)  premiered three months after the premiere of the “Lights Out” video.The music video for “Deaf” was shot and directed by Patrick Elis. The song has been remixed by rapper Boogey. Alordiah stated in an interview that she loves creating visual content, and has successfully co-directed all of her music videos till date. To promote the single, Alordiah organised an amazing  rap competition exclusively for girls

    Awards and Nominations

    Her collaboration in ‘Owo ati Swagger’ remix earned the ‘Best Collaboration in A Video’ award at the Soundcity Music Video Awards, 2009.

    Her outstanding work in Rap music earned her her first Solo award nomination, gaining a spot in the ‘Best Rap Act’ category of the Nigerian Entertainment Awards 2011, alongside notable rappers such as M.I, Ruggedman, NaetoC and Iceprince. This not only makes Eva just as good as the men, it also gives a clear view of how far she has come as a female rapper.

    She went on to win ‘Female Artist of the year in Rap’ at the Exquisite Lady of the year awards 2011. Eva was also featured in the 2011 edition of the BET Hiphop Awards Cyphers, representing Nigeria along with Top notch rappers.  Below are some of her pictures show casing her fab and unique style of fashion, make up and personality.
