That Wicked Speculation About Oba Sikiru Adetona
It is believed in some Nigerian cultures that a rumoured death of a monarch only elongates his lifespan on the face of earth.
This saying is one, which the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, would like to identify with as we speak.
Days back, the social circle was agog with speculations of the death of the 83-year old monarch.
While many initially took to identifying with the speculation as it spread like wildfire, the embers of the flame was subsequently put out following a denial by the monarch himself.
The Awujale who is considered a leading monarch in the country has spent 57 years on the throne. He has been on a string of medical checkups and many have said this might have spurred the negative speculations.
