How Music Stars Reacted To Ban Of Foreign Video Shoot

Top musicians in Nigeria have been reacting to the planned ban of production of music videos abroad by the Federal Government.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed revealed the plan by the FG when he was recently hosted by the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).

Mohammed was quoted saying “This government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria. We cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria.”

Since the statement, reactions have been pouring in.

Artistes, including P-Square and Ruggedman, have criticised the move, with the latter asking the Minister to face his work and leave entertainers alone.

On his part, Jude Okoye says, “You people are the ones refusing to fix our health facilities, so you travel out when a mosquito bites you. So why tell us where to record when you can’t provide uninterrupted power here in Nigeria. Sometimes I wonder how we got it all wrong. Which money do you use to pay the bills of your children who school abroad?” Jude Okoye said on social media via Instagram.

Music Producer, Samklef, also added his voice to the criticisms.

This is definitely one subject where entertainers have found a common voice.
