The Lagos State Police Command is yet to arrest Seun Kuti 24-hours after the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, gave the ordered.

Recall that the IGP had ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest the Afrobeat singer, after he was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

Kuti had been spotted in the video shoving the policeman before eventually slapping, while screaming “do you want to kill me”.

In a statement by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

However, as at the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Command were yet to confirm the singer’s arrest.

There have been reports that the police did visit the home of Kuti, but he was said to be away from home.

In a post on Instagram, the Grammy Award nominee said that he welcomed the investigation into his faceoff with a police officer he assaulted and will give full coorperation to the investigation proceedings.

He maintains that the policeman he assaulted wanted to kill him and he has proof.
