Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has revealed that he has no presidential ambition.
He stated this on Tuesday, February 16, insisted that what is most important to him at the moment is security and the availability of food for citizens not just in the state but also in the middle-belt.
Ortom hinged his position on the possibility that anything can happen at any time, stating clearly that “tomorrow we may not have a Nigeria to contest the presidency in or governors, senators, or House of Representatives.”
Further, he said if he was to speak his mind, the issue of zoning must be considered thoroughly by all political parties fielding candidates ahead of the next presidential election.
He opined that parties that make wrong choices as to what regions they want the nation’s next president to come from will lose out eventually.
Ortom said: “If you ask me my personal opinion now, that should not be a problem to us. Since the advent of democracy, we have been rotating the presidency. So, it’s a matter of various political parties to decide where they want their president to come from.
“If you decide to make a wrong choice in where your presidency will come from, you will lose out and it’s as simple as that. So, that is not a problem. “
