Yinka Mafe Goes Home

The angel of death has a way of taking away good men and women.

In their peak, it wakes them at times from their slumber leaving wailing, sorrow, and tears.

This is what has happened to Yinka Mafe, described as a gentle and amiable man.

Gradually but surely getting to the peak of his career, Mafe, the immediate past majority leader of Ogun State House of Assembly died barely hours after celebrating his 45th birthday in style at Tenth Planet & Suites in Sagamu, Ogun State on Tuesday, February 4th.

Prior to the main celebration, he had organised a prayer session at his country home in Emuren, while he also visited inmates and warders at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Sagamu, Ogun State.

Rumoured to have been advised by his doctor to shift his celebration to enable him to find time to rest, there are now speculations that fatigue could have cost him his life.

Born February 4th, 1974, Mafe’s political career started when he was elected the Councilor of Ward three in Sagamu Local Government Legislative Council in December 1998, a term which ended in 2002.

Having as the chief host, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, and Princess Dr. Toyin Kolade as host, the 2020 Aje Festival will no doubt herald a new breath of life into the commercial and economic activities not only in Ile Ife and environs but throughout Yorubaland and the whole of Nigeria. Prayers are going to be offered by top spiritual leaders, royal fathers, and religious leaders. This is meant for the Almighty God to intervene in economic brouhaha bedeviling the growth and rapid development of Nigeria

The Aje Festival is going to be an All-White attire affair symbolizing purity, peace, unity, and progressiveness. Market women and men are also expected to display their farm product, foodstuffs, goods, and products for the array of visitors who trooped into the Cradle of Yoruba Race to savour the natural gift bestowed upon the flourishing land of Ile Ife. There will be enough merry-making and fun with lots of entertainment and dining/wining to make the 2020 Aje Festival a memorable and indelible event.

However, when there is a libation and the gods are happy, there is a tendency that there is an exception to the rule.
