Manchester United have sacked head coach Ruben Amorim following a run of poor results and growing concerns over his conduct and tactical approach.

According to “Sky Sports News“, Amorim’s emotional and inconsistent behaviour played a key role in the club’s decision to part ways with him. It was also reported that the coach’s refusal to adapt or evolve his preferred 3-4-3 system led to a breakdown in confidence among the club’s hierarchy.

A string of disappointing performances had heightened tension at Old Trafford in recent weeks. Sky Sports revealed that Amorim was dismissed after a scheduled meeting with the club’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, and Chief Executive Officer, Omar Berrada, on Friday, during which the team’s tactical direction was discussed at length.

Sources indicate that United’s leadership were dissatisfied with Amorim’s response at the meeting, describing it as overly emotional and negative. The final decision to terminate his appointment was taken following a further meeting with Wilcox and Berrada on Monday morning, where it was concluded that his position had become untenable.

Amorim departs Manchester United after 14 months in charge. He was appointed in November 2024 and guided the club to the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao in May 2025.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table. Former midfielder Darren Fletcher has been placed in interim charge and will lead the team in Wednesday’s league fixture against Burnley.

In a statement, Manchester United thanked Amorim for his service to the club and wished him well in his future endeavours.
