Singer, Banky W, has joined the race for the Federal House Of Representatives.
Banky W who announced his ambition hours ago, will be contesting for the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of Modern Democratic Party (MDP).
Declaring his intention to contest for the office, Banky W said “For myself, and the team behind this MDP movement – the Modern Democratic Party, I can honestly say, that tonight is a dream come true. I’ve seen that happen many times, you know? I’ve seen dreams come true; and it’s amazing every time. I am, in fact, living proof, that the unlikeliest of dreams can indeed come true.”
Born in 1981 to a father from Lagos and a mother from Cross Rivers, Banky can contest an election in Lagos state.
Explaining why he is contesting the election, the singer said “for many years, I’ve been a vocal critic of leadership and bad governance in Nigeria, and a vocal proponent of young people participating in the political process. And yet, the turn out is never good enough, because we simply just don’t care enough to do what it takes.”
Likening Arsenal Football Club to Nigeria, Banky W said what was achieved with the club which recently signed a new coach, can be achieved with Nigeria. However, it can only be achieved when the day the new generation get involved with the affairs of the country.
