Afrofusion singer, Damini Ogulu, popular as Burna Boy has come under heavy criticism for describing himself as the best musician from Nigeria after Fela.

The singer who also described his colleagues in the music industry as pretentious, also stated that they are quick to condemn him to satisfy themselves, adding that he paved the way and brought Afrobeat genre to the mainstream where it is currently enjoying the western recognition

He made this claim in a series of tweets on Twitter on Wednesday, February 12.

However, reacting to the ‘Ye’ singer, a music pundit where he was between 2010 and 2018.

“Where were you since 2010-2018? I mean where the f**k are you when Afrobeat was struggling to hit the mainstream? The best paved the way for you. You came In when the table has already been set and here you’re claiming the best since Fela,” one of the fans wrote.

Burna Boy, who lost the 2020 Grammy Award for the ‘Best World Music Album’ to Angelique Kidjo, however, defended his career, adding no one paved the way for him.

“Lol. Nobody paved shit for me. Everybody dey find them own. I have been out here, if you knew the way they made us look weak by begging and paying the western world to like us you will see that no table was set and I’m the one that brought you the respect you currently enjoy,”
