Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed that he is focused on the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Obaseki said this vowing to sustain the tempo of developmental strides by his administration across all sectors “despite distractions by a few selfish politicians who are hellbent on further plundering the fortunes of the state.”
The governor who spoke to his supporters in wards 5 and 9, Etsako East Local Government Area on Thursday, August 6, said his government will continue to utilise the state’s resources for developmental projects in order to improve the livelihood of the majority of Edo people.
“The treasury of Edo State is not for a few selfish politicians but for Edo people and the development of the state.
“This fight is all about looting Edo state’s treasury for selfish interests and gains but as a governor that has the interest of Edo people, I will continue to utilise the state’s resources to transform the state and make life meaningful for the people.
“There is more work to do for the people of the state and we can’t afford to share the state’s resources with a few, while millions of Edo people suffer.”
The media aide to the Edo state governor, Crusoe Osagie, had recently said that the Obaseki-led government has a robust governance system in place, that is responding to the daily needs of Edo people in all sectors of the state amid the ongoing electioneering campaigns.
Osagie had described the manifesto of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as outdated and controversial. Speaking in Benin City on Tuesday, August 3, Osagie challenged the APC governorship candidate to tell Edo people the plans he has for the state’s economy, foisted by COVID-19.
On Ize-Iyamu’s manifesto, the governor’s media aide said: “There is no page in the so-called Simple Agenda, written by Dr Don Pedro Obaseki, where a post-COVID economy was mentioned.
“The issues outlined in the Simple Agenda have long been overtaken by the reality of today and the future, which Obaseki calls a post-COVID-19 economy.”
