1) Hajia Titi Atiku, who is the first wife of the politician started her relationship with him when she was 19 years. They met at Titilayo Albert at Idi Iroko border post where Atiku was serving having been posted there by the Department of Custom and Excise. Saadatu, is the daughter of a police officer in Gombe. She attended Advance Teachers College, Gumel. Atiku married her in his bid to expand the family due to the lonely time he had as a child. Saadatu’s children are namely Abba, Atiku, Zainab, Rakayatu and Umm- Hauwa.
3) Princess Rukaiyatu, is the third wife of the politician and businessman. She is the daughter of the late Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Aliyu Mustafa.
Atiku was given the hands of Rukaiyatu in marriage to make up for the title of Turaki which was bestowed on him. Her children for him are Aisha, Hadiza, Aliyu, Asmau, Mustafa, Laila and Abdulsalaam.
4) Fatima Shettima, is the fourth wife of Atiku. Of Kanuri origin and she met her husband in Lagos, while attending Law School. A Lawyer, she graduated from the University of Maiduguri. They got married on July 22 1986. Her children for Atiku include Amina, Mohammed and twins Ahmed and Shehu.
